cooperating with non-Muslims to stop the terrorists
Part 1
It is allowed for Muslim countries to cooperate with non-Muslim countries to capture the terrorists
Al-ʿAllāmah Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān
During my recent visit to Trinidad and Tobago, a number of questions were posed to me pertaining to ISIS/ISIL. I noticed that a few brothers were affected by some of the arguments exploited by extremists worldwide.
In these concise articles, I intend to share some of the edicts from a number of senior Islamic scholars to clarify the correct stance on a number of current issues. Any impartial person will see that the verdicts of the Salafī scholars make it clear that all forms of terrorism are morally indefensible and theologically bankrupt.
The following question was posed to Al-ʿAllāmah Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān:
Question: “If a Muslim country cooperates with a non-Muslim country to capture those responsible for the bombings in the lands of the Muslims, is this considered to be aiding and supporting [the non-Muslims]? Benefit us, may Allāh bless you.”
Answer: “Seeking the assistance of non-Muslims to capture the saboteurs who are in the Muslim lands is permissible, because this is in the interest of Islam and the Muslims. This is similar to seeking the assistance of non-Muslims to war against those who wage aggression against the Muslims, when there is a necessity to do so.”
